Glenn Close, Billy Porter, latest additions to the "Hunger Games: Sunrise of the Reaping" cast

The world of "The Hunger Games" is full of overly-wordy titles and silly names, but the books have been hugely successful and so has the movie franchise. It's a sci-fi story and people don't seem to mind the nomenclature. Some even enjoy it. The next "Hunger Games" movie is "Sunrise of the Reaping," another prequel to the Katniss stories. Casting news has come fast and furious, with notable names like Ralph Fiennes and Elle Fanning in the mix. Two more notable actors have been added to the cast: Glenn Close and Billy Porter.

Glenn Close will be playing Drusilla Sickle. Meanwhile, Billy Porter will be playing Magno Stift. Some of these names are purposefully funny, right? "Hunger Games" author Suzanne Collins did get her start writing for "Clarissa Explains It All," which featured a character named Clifford Spleenhurfer.

Close and Porter bring cache to the cast. Porter is an Emmy winner, while Close is an infamous Oscar loser. Close is tied with Peter O'Toole for the most Oscar nominations for acting without a win. Both have eight. Hey, the way we would frame that is Glenn Close has been nominated for eight Oscars for acting. Now she's in "Sunrise of the Reaping."

The prequel film hits theaters November 20, 2026.
