Hailee Steinfeld being 'super-gentle' during postpartum period

Hailee Steinfeld is trying to be "super gentle" with herself after giving birth a few weeks ago.

The Pitch Perfect star and her husband Josh Allen welcomed a baby girl into the world last month, and the 29-year-old actress has reflected on the importance of warm, nourishing foods during the postpartum period.

She wrote in a post shared to her Beau Society Substack: "My amazing doula has taught me so much about postpartum nutrition.

"In general, she advised me to stick to warm foods during my postpartum recovery to help digestion and boost nutrient absorption, a philosophy that stems from Ayurveda.

"Knowing this, my mom made me this amazing albondigas soup the other day. It's one of those rare soups that looks as good as it tastes."

Hailee went on to praise Heng Ou's postpartum cookbook The First 40 Days, and admitted it had been an invaluable resource for her.

She posted: "Every word has resonated. There's a paragraph early on that talks about how even forty days after giving birth, you're still in such a vulnerable state. People understand that about your new baby, but they don’t understand that about you, the mom.

"I'm still in this early period, and need to remember to be super gentle with myself in every way — physically, mentally, nutritionally, spiritually, all of it."

Hailee recently claimed that she's "stepping into [her] own as a woman"and her starring role in Sinners, the Ryan Coogler-directed horror movie, came to her at the perfect time in her life.

Hailee - who starred alongside Michael B Jordan in the movie - told Bustle: "This role wouldn’t have existed in my life at any other time.

"It made sense in that this is where I’m at in my life. I’m stepping into my own as a woman, understanding who I am in every sense of the word. I’m such a firm believer in the idea that everything happens for a reason.

"Timing is everything. Where I’m at professionally, mentally, emotionally — if this part had come into my life any sooner, I wouldn’t have been able to take it on."

Hailee launched her Beau Society newsletter during the SAG strike in 2023, and she's been able to reach her fans through the platform.

She said: "It has been this really great connective way to reach people. We get to talk about everything from the layers that exist in Sinners to this avocado hummus."
