Jelly Roll's WWE Debut: Training Injuries and Future Plans
via WWE

Being a WWE Superstar isn’t easy, and Grammy-nominated country singer Jelly Roll is finding that out quickly. Jelly Roll will be making his in-ring debut over the weekend during the two-night SummerSlam Premium Live Event at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Ahead of his match, Jelly Roll revealed the trials he dealt with while training.

Jelly Roll’s First Week of Training Was Wild

The SummerSlam match will see Jelly Roll teaming up with Randy Orton to face Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. ESPN’s Get Up this morning interviewed both Orton and Jelly Roll, which was when the singer revealed he broke his pinky during the first week of training. The answer came after he was asked about the toughest part of training. He said:

“The physicality. Listen man, that wrestling’s fake stuff has got to go out the door. There’s no fake way to land on a piece of plywood in front of 60,000 people, you know what I mean? There’s no fake way to go over a cable rope in front of 65,000 people, man. I broke my pinky week one of training by accident. That thing, it’s a constant collision, dude.”

Jelly Roll later explained how he understands what WWE Superstars go through “now that he’s went in there.” He has been training at the WWE Performance Center every day for the past few weeks, and Orton praised his work ethic and drive. He said:

“He’s working as hard as anyone — if not harder — than anyone that I’ve ever seen come into our world.”

While this was his first match at SummerSlam, Jelly Roll at SummerSlam 2024 did get physical during a segment with Austin Theory, where he ended up chokeslamming him. Jelly Roll at the 2024 PLE performed his single, "Liar" before being interrupted by Theory and Grayson Waller.

Jelly Roll Might Not Be Done Just Yet With WWE

The singer might not be done with the promotion after SummerSlam either. In a recent report from WrestleVotes via Newsweek, the outlet has noted that Jelly Roll hopes for a “long-term partnership” and wants to return to the company in early 2026.

The outlet went into greater detail about his training, which is said to be at least three hours long, and he has trained with The Undertaker, Michelle McCool, Kevin Owens, and Jacob Fatu. Though time will only tell where his in-ring debut will lead him, and of course, Jelly Roll isn’t the first singer to grace the WWE stage.
