Fallon explained how his new comedic single "It Was A...(Masked Christmas)" featuring Grande and Megan came to be before premiering the official music video on Monday's The Tonight Show:
"It's basically about how last year was just rough on everybody, and it's gonna get better," Fallon said. "It really is gonna get better. Trust me. And how can I portray that? And also thinking about what funny things happened while we were in lockdown. Putting Purell on everything. Going on to Zoom, Zooming your grandpa [or] grandma."
The trio separately gushed over their unlikely but magical collaboration online:
