Jimmy Kimmel is said to be furious after ABC suspended his late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! following remarks he made about the killing of political activist Charlie Kirk.
The chat show host, 57, was taken off the air on Wednesday (17.09.25) with a spokesperson for ABC telling Page Six the show had been pulled “indefinitely” in the wake of his comments.
Sources have now told the Daily Mail Jimmy is determined to end his relationship with the network and is considering guesting on Stephen Colbert’s programme before its cancellation next year.
An insider told the outlet: “Jimmy is p***** over the decision to suspend him and the show and he isn’t going to take this lightly, as he is actively looking for ways to get out of his contract.
“This is the last straw and Jimmy is now looking to forever break his relationship with ABC forever.”
According to the same source, Jimmy and Stephen are “looking to do something together to fight” against Donald Trump’s administration.
The insider added: “They both don’t want Trump to win in any way or fashion at all, and this has lit an extreme fire under Jimmy’s ass to continue to tell it like it is and be real to himself.”
Jimmy’s suspension followed his on-air comments about Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed at the age of 31 while speaking at Utah Valley University on 10 September.
On Monday’s (15.09.25) broadcast, Jimmy said: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterise this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”
The source insisted Jimmy “didn’t even say anything that bad” and argued his remarks should be protected under the First Amendment.
They added: “Jimmy said he’s going to fight this, not even because he cares so much for the show, although he does, but because he cares about the precedent.
“He can’t make a comment about Charlie Kirk? This is persecution, and Jimmy isn’t going to stand for it. “And he has a lot of friends who are going to cause problems if suddenly he doesn’t have a show.”
The insider also claimed Jimmy could encourage Hollywood figures to stop appearing on ABC programmes, including The View.
Donald Trump, 79, welcomed the network’s decision.
Writing on Truth Social, he said: “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible.
“That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.”
