Jordan Peele has built a reputation as one of the few filmmakers whose name alone can sell an original movie. His debut, 'Get Out,' was as acclaimed as a first feature can be, 'Us' was a commercial hit despite some confusion, and 'Nope' drew strong reviews and box office as well. Universal has leaned into that reputation, at times slotting an “Untitled Jordan Peele Project” onto the release calendar as an event in itself. The challenge has been keeping those projects on schedule.
Peele’s fourth film has been removed from Universal’s release calendar. The untitled project, originally slated for Christmas 2024, had already been delayed to October 2026, with industry strikes cited as a reason. Now, Universal has taken it off the schedule entirely.
That does not mean the movie has been scrapped. Peele is reportedly still developing the project, but he has yet to begin shooting, making it impossible to meet the 2026 target. A summer 2027 release could be a logical next step, giving the film blockbuster positioning and offsetting skepticism from the repeated delays.
Whenever it arrives, Peele’s next movie is expected to draw major attention.
