Jude Law had shed light on a rule Star Wars creators are forbidden to break.
The actor, who plays the lead in upcoming Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, revealed in a recent interview what’s known as the “Star Wars filter.” If a show takes place in the Star Wars universe, it must go through the filter.
"Like, there are no buttons in Star Wars — only ties,” Law tells Variety. “Buckles? Yes. Velcro? Yes. Although, I don’t think you ever see the Velcro.”
However, there’s a more important rule outlawing a certain camera move. “There are certain shots they don’t allow you to do if you’re the director,” Law continued. “You can’t pass through the glass of the spaceship; you have to stay on the outside or inside. I love that. You see the shot and go, 'Oh, I’m in Star Wars.’”
Set just after Return of the Jedi, in the same period as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew follows a group of four kids who, after making a startling discovery, have to find their way back home.
Law plays Jod Na Nawood, a mysterious character who’s widely believed to be a Jedi. Although the actor is keeping quiet on that for now, saying "Who says I’ve got the Force?”
Skeleton Crew premieres on Disney+ on December 3.
