'Last Picture Show,' 'Paper Moon' director Peter Bogdanovich dies at 82

Peter Bogdanovich passed away at 82 years old.

Antonia Bogdanovich, his daughter, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that her father "died shortly after midnight Thursday of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles."

Bogdanovich earned two Oscar nominations (best director and best writing, screenplay based on material from another medium) for 1971's The Last Picture Show, which won two of its eight Oscar nods. His acclaimed directorial run continued with What's Up, Doc? (1972) and Paper Moon (1973).

Paper Moon starred Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal. It also launched O'Neal's daughter Tatum to stardom, as she became the youngest Oscar winner in a competitive category by winning best supporting actress at the 46th Academy Awards.
