Maggie Baugh is an emerging country singer who is Keith Urban's "utility player." She was singing at his side during a recent concert when, a video on Instagram shows, he changed a lyric to mention her name.
"Maggie is an energetic entertainer and is as musically talented as anyone I have ever seen," Undiscovered Nashville wrote.
Urban is in the news because of the breakdown of his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman, who has filed for divorce after almost 20 years of marriage. That has fans scrutinizing his every recent move.
According to People, Urban changed the lyrics to the song "The Fighter" during a "recent performance." People noted that the original lyric was, “When they're tryna get to you, baby I'll be the fighter."
“When they try to get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player," Urban sings instead in the Instagram-posted video. Both Baugh and Urban then laugh.
Baugh shared a video of the song on Instagram, Men's Journal confirmed. In the video, "a lyric from the song was changed to include her name as the two performed together," People reported.
"Did he just say that" Baugh wrote with the video, which she shared to Instagram on September 28.
"Did Keith Urban just say that," text over the video also says.
Urban makes several appearances on Baugh's Instagram page.
Baugh posed in front of a Keith Urban sign on September 26. "It is always a blast hanging with Keith and the Crew. Grateful to be in Chicago TONIGHT. Yall let’s GO," she wrote on Instagram.
Baugh also posted a video showing her playing the violin while Urban played the guitar during a concert.
On September 19, Baugh posted a video showing her singing alongside Urban on Jimmy Kimmel's show.
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, People reported. The reasons for the break-up are much-speculated, but not confirmed beyond anonymous sources to various publications.
According to the Hamilton County Reporter, Baugh "is usually labeled as a rising country music star," but she is a "multi-genre entertainer who sings and plays several instruments."
“I’ve been on tour since February. So I mean, everywhere. Cue the song ‘I’ve Been Everywhere,’ man," she told that site.
“I started going to Nashville when I was 13 and started songwriting around the same age,” Baugh said in that interview. “I put out my very first record when I was 13 years old. I’m actually from south Florida and it’s a festival season all year round in south Florida, so I toured a lot there."
“Nobody in my family plays music,” Baugh told the Hamilton County Reporter. “I’m literally the only one. Isn’t that crazy? I’m the oddball. My dad is a microbiologist, and my mom is a stay-at-home mom who runs a dog training business on the side.” That site says she went viral with a TikTok series called, "Finish the Lick."
Her X page focuses on her music.
