Maggie Gyllenhaal Shares First Look at Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley in “The Bride”

Maggie Gyllenhaal has been hard at work bringing her sophomore feature to life, and now she has revealed some first-look images.

Starring Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley alongside Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz, Julianne Hough and Peter Sarsgaard, The Bride follows Frankenstein, who asks Dr. Euphronius to create him a companion.

Dr. Euphronius sets out to give life to a murdered woman as the titular "The Bride", which sparks romance, police interest, and radical social change.

Gyllenhaal shared the first images from the camera test on her Instagram, captioning it "Meet The Bride & Frank".

The photos - shot by Niko Tavernise - give us a stunning first preview of Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale in character.

Jessie Buckley is pictured with a dark splatter across her face, complete with a white wig and darkened lips, amplifying the gothic elements of Frankenstein's story.

Bale is photographed in black and white, shadows cast upon one side of his face and scarring marked across his body among an intricate tattoo.

The Bride is slated for release on October 3, 2025.
