After a long wait, last year we finally learned the release date for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two. Now we have our first teaser trailer for the 10-episode second season of the acclaimed kaiju show. It shows Kurt Russell waking up in what looks like Skull Island. We hear Shaw say, “The world has changed. This is not Kong. And it’s not Godzilla. This is something bigger.” What exactly is bigger than those two titans? Season two unleashes the debut of “Titan X,” expanding the Monsterverse with a new, massive creature that will share the world with Kong and Godzilla. You can watch the full trailer right here:

And here’s the official synopsis for season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters:
In addition to Kong, season two will feature Godzilla and introduce a new Titan: the enigmatic Titan X, now officially on the loose. Titan X isn’t just another monster; it’s a living cataclysm. When its massive bioluminescent form breaks the surface of the ocean, the world seems to hold its breath. In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two, Titan X stands at the center of the mystery – an ancient force emerging from the deep, its purpose uncertain, its power unmatched, its awe and terror in equal measure.
From the look of things, it seems this Titan X is a new creation, not based on any Toho kaiju films of the past. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place before the film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, so around 2015. Long before Kong and Godzilla became reluctant partners. So who will take down Titan X? We’ll have to wait and see. Monarch stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. Joining the cast in season two are Takehiro Hira, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper, Camilo Jiménez Varón, and Prey’s Amber Midthunder.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two arrives on Apple TV+ on Friday, February 27.
