The story of "You" is a story that reflects the modern landscape. That is the story of the show itself, not the plot of the show about the serial killer who falls in obsessive love.
It debuted and aired its first season on Lifetime in 2018. You know, linear cable. Lifetime initially greenlit the show for a second season, but then rescinded. "You" could have died, but instead Netflix picked it up and then the show become a massive success on the most-popular streaming service in the world.

"You" is not the first show that Netflix resurrected when it appeared dead, nor is it the last. But it is one of the success stories that helps to keep Netflix a powerhouse and a must have subscription.
