They did it. They actually did it. Oasis performed a massive concert in Cardiff, Wales on July 4. It was the British band's first show since 2009, and something few ever could have imagined happening. When the tour was announced, the press statement read: "The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised." This did not feel like hyperbole when it comes to Liam and Noel Gallagher.
Oasis were the biggest band of the Britpop era. They were big in the United States in the 1990s, but in Britain, they were the biggest band in the world. At the center were the Gallagher brothers, two Manchester lads who, then and now, never mince words and often manage to amuse and entertain by being, shall we say, undiplomatic.
The two focused much of their ire at one another, sometimes even on stage. The Gallaghers' ability to tolerate one another ebbed and flowed over the years, but things exploded in 2009. And it took more than a minute for them to bury the hatchet. We mean, in 2017 Noel stood up Liam at a concert. Oh, and it was a benefit concert for victims of a bombing in their hometown of Manchester. Yeah, at that point it seemed like a reunion tour would never happen. And now, here in 2025...
Liam and Noel have made it through at least one show of this massive tour, one that will traverse the globe after getting things revved up in Great Britain. There will be, unsurprisingly, multiple shows in cities such as London and Manchester. Also, the brothers seem to be sounding pretty good, and the fans certainly are hyped.
Hell has frozen over, and Oasis has reunited. For those curious that aren't going to be able to make a concert (because the tickets have been wildly expensive) here's the setlist from Cardiff:
