Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie is 'One Battle After Another', stars Leonardo DiCaprio, and has a teaser trailer

Ooh baby. We knew that Paul Thomas Anderson had a new movie coming out eventually. Also, we knew it starred the likes of Regina King, Sean Penn, and Leonardo DiCaprio. However, the film has been shrouded in rumor and speculation, befitting a PTA movie. It was going to come out sometime in 2025...unless it didn't. The title attached to the movie kept changing as well. Fortunately, everything is going to be alright, film lovers. Not only does Anderson's movie have a title, and a release date, but we even got a quick teaser trailer.

Twenty-one seconds of glory. Granted, we learn little about the film from the teaser, which is the whole point of teasing the audience. However, the trailers looks great, which is not surprising given that Anderson has made some of the most-gorgeous-looking films of the last three decades. "One Battle After Another" was one of the titles attached to the movie at times, so it's not surprising to see that be the official choice, and now we know the movie arrives on September 26 as well.

Evidently we're going to get a full trailer next week, at which point maybe there might be some sense of the plot. While speculation has said that Anderson is, loosely or otherwise, adapting Thomas Pynchon's "Vineland," that remains to be seen. That would be pretty dope, though, because when he adapted "Inherent Vice" it absolutely ripped.

Of course, the question also being asked (at least by those who care about these things i.e. people with good sense and taste) is whether "One Battle After Another" will be the movie to get Anderson his Oscar, be it for Best Director or Best Picture. His films have netted 28 nominations, including nine for actors in his movies. That is to say, be prepared for DiCaprio (and we'll speculate also King) to get nominations here. However, Anderson's movies have also only netted three wins. Even "There Will Be Blood," a modern masterpiece, only won two Oscars.

There are a lot of movies to be seen before we can assess where PTA and his film fit into the Oscar landscape. That includes, you know, seeing more than 20 seconds of "One Battle After Another." Hey, at least Anderson knows he doesn't have to worry about "Mickey 17" in the Oscar race.
