Freddy Fazbear and his friends are making a comeback in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. This movie is, obviously, the sequel to the Blumhouse horror movie, Five Nights at Freddy’s. Both films draw inspiration from the video games of the renowned franchise.
FNAF fans are ready for the return of their favorite murderous animatronics. They’re especially excited about what kind of frights and scares this new movie will bring. The good news is the spooks are guaranteed thanks to the flick’s newly assigned rating. But what rating did Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 get?
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 continues the story introduced in Five Nights at Freddy’s. The first movie follows a young man struggling to provide for his kid sister. Desperate, he accepts a nighttime security guard job at the abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant. It isn’t long until he learns that the once-motionless animatronic characters are alive. And discovers the chilling truth behind their life and his new place of employment.
Despite critics’ apprehension, Five Nights at Freddy’s proved a hit with fans. They loved everything about it, from the franchise-based Easter eggs to the actors’ performances. Of course, they adored the animatronics created and puppeteered by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
The announcement for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 came months ago. And a trailer for it debuted on YouTube over the summer. Sources reveal this movie will take place one year after the previous one. It will also delve further into the mystery behind the animatronics and the original pizzeria. The cast will consist of returning and new actors, including the renowned Wayne Knight.
Recently, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 acquired a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association. The decision was due to the movie’s intended violence, terror, and strong language. This choice, unfortunately, could upset fans who were hoping for something more mature. Additionally, Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum recently talked about the prominent criticisms of the previous film. And wanting to implement every one of them in this sequel.
It is worth mentioning that the PG-13 rating worked great for Five Nights at Freddy’s. So it stands to reason that it might work well again for this new movie. Nevertheless, we must wait to see if this rating sticks. Or if Blumhouse decides to alter the film, forcing the MPA to bestow something higher.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 receiving a PG-13 rating is surprising, though it makes sense. The first movie acquired that classification, so the sequel got it too. That tends to happen with films that form into a series. It somewhat helps keep a consistent vibe across each installment.
The first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie appears interesting, and I wouldn’t mind seeing it. I’m not really a horror fan, though I cannot ignore this film’s appeal. Plus, the fact that Jim Henson’s Creature Shop made the animatronics is mind-blowing. Maybe seeing the previous FNAF flick will get me excited to watch this brand-new one. Either way, everyone will once it hits theaters this December 5.
