The Owens sisters are almost back for more witchy drama. Practical Magic stole our hearts back in 1998 with a blend of romance, fantasy, crime chaos, and so much more as Sally and Gillian use their powers for the good of killing an abusive dude. And, of course, we love their spinster aunts Frances and Jet so much. Now, Warner Bros. is rekindling that magic with Practical Magic 2, and the company gave CinemaCon its first look at what will happen with a teaser trailer.
The very first glimpse showed Sally and GIllian in an opening sizzle reel, where they welcome us into their home with a smile. Then, later in the presentation, these words came on the screen with candles lit everywhere:
“Tooth of wolf and morning dew. Something old and something new. Let the spell begin to mix, September 11 2026.”
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman then came out to talk to Patton Oswald about Practical Magic 2. Bullock jokes that people have refused to let go of this story, hence the reason why they are back for a sequel. They even set up a joke with Nicole’s AMC “We come to this place for magic” quote that we all love. Kidman says the film picks up with the iconic house and the Owens sisters’ past catching up with them. Gillian is single with a cat and Sally has her daughters, and there is still chaos abound. Bullock even revealed that the house is a practical set, which brought the cast and crew so much joy.
In the teaser, the sun shines on the Owens family house as all the women we love continue to live a magical life. Sally and Gillian are passing their magic on to the next generation but there are some dark forces afoot that will test their powers. It takes the film we knew to an even deeper fantasy level.
How lucky are we that Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Stockard Channing, and Dianne West are all here to reprise their iconic roles as the Owens women? We truly aren’t worthy of their power. Practical Magic 2 will come to theaters on September 11.
