Ryan Reynolds has opened up about the future of the Deadpool franchise, in an interesting conversation with Amazing Spiderman Star Andrew Garfield during Variety’s Actor on Actor series. The 48-year-old referenced the possibility of a 4th movie for the character.
The 3rd installment, Deadpool and Wolverine came out on the 24th of July this year as the sequel to Deadpool 2, which was released 6 years ago. The first part also came out 8 years ago. Despite the big success that followed the release of all the 3 movies over the past years, Ryan Reynolds has shown a high level of uncertainty concerning the possibility of continuing the franchise. However, he did not remove the chance of the character appearing as a side character in other movies within the MCU.
The Deadpool star has revealed the likelihood of the Deadpool franchise continuing. He spoke with Variety about the foul-mouthed merc may appear in another Marvel movie instead of his own. Ryan spoke, “If he comes back, it’s gonna be in someone else’s movie. Channing Tatum would happily be a fifth banana in his movie or anyone else’s.”
So far with the success of the franchise and the age factor not being on the actor’s side, it’s understandable that the franchise might be heading towards a long break if not a halting point. However, with the character being highly dynamic based on the comics might still have its appearance in other movies as Ryan had stated.
Ryan Reynolds also spoke with Andrew Garfield during an interview on Actors on Actors concerning the future of the Deadpool franchise. Expressed how unsure he is about the future of the franchise, he also explained that the Character works in two ways, scarcity and surprise. He further insinuated that the character thrives if they are missed by the audience and it return as a support role or cameo.
Reynolds continued to now express that the whole franchise has affected his time personally, including being a father. He further explains how he would love to be present in the lives of his four children. Trying to pursue another sequel with the character will deprive him of the time he ought to spend with his kids and family in general.
Reynolds told Garfield, “[…] So it had been six years since the last one, and part of the reason is that it swallowed my whole life. I have four kids, and I don’t ever want to be an absentee dad. I kind of die inside when I see their faces and they do a sports thing or something, and I miss it.”
Reynolds continued to point out how his earlier idea of character scarcity and surprise inspired the audience. He intrigued Andrew with an example of how the idea worked when he and Tobey Maguire were introduced in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Which in return fascinated the audience. Reynolds also gave an instance of how emotional the fans were when Wesley Snipes was revealed in the hall at Comic-Con before the release of Deadpool and Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds opened up thoroughly on how his thoughts and plans for the future of the Deadpool franchise on a personal level. However, he dropped the hint that Marvel’s favorite 4th wall-breaker will now make cameo appearances in future movies.
His major reason for the uncertainty of the franchise’s future was centered around his family. It’s understandable to say Reynolds won’t have the time again to pursue such a big role. With 4 kids already on the ground, it will be of strong interest for him to watch them grow and develop. He opened up about his thoughts to Andrew Garfield, admitting he wouldn’t want to be absent in the lives of his children.
With how the franchise trajectory has been so far, it seems justifiable that the 3rd installment was a good halting point for the movie. Aside the inconveniences that another movie may cause the leading stars, the whole story seemed to have rounded itself up with the ending of the 3rd installment. And from what Ryan had pointed out about the character being better off making an appearance in another person’s movie, it looks like a great idea to look forward to.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 5-3 following their 27-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts. This victory was massive for the Steelers as it snapped a two-game skid and gave the team much-needed momentum. The defense finally woke up, forcing six turnovers in one of its most dominant performances of the season. For now, it appears the Steelers have rediscovered their formula for success by relying on their defense and timely plays. However, that formula often depends on forcing multiple turnovers. When the takeaways are not there, this defense has looked leaky and inconsistent, ranking among the worst in the NFL in yardage allowed. That's crazy because this defense was expected to be one of the best units in the NFL during the 2025 season. With the trade deadline approaching on Tuesday, all eyes are on Steelers General Manager Omar Khan. Known across the league for his aggressiveness, Khan has never hesitated to make bold moves if he believes they can improve the roster both now and in the future. After last year’s midseason trades, there is growing speculation that Khan could be preparing to strike again. The Steelers remain firmly in the playoff hunt, and Khan’s history suggests he will not sit back if he sees a chance to strengthen his team for the second half of the season and beyond. On Monday, a surprising new name emerged as a potential target: Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. The former Ohio State star and top draft pick is one of the most promising young wideouts in football. His name quickly caught attention on Monday. The buzz began after his father, Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr., publicly criticized the Cardinals offense for its lack of production and creativity. "It's very hard for me to watch the Cardinals' offense," Harrison Sr. told ESPN. "And you can quote me on that." That frustration has fueled speculation that Harrison Jr. could be open to a change of scenery, and if he becomes available, the Steelers would likely be one of the first teams to make an inquiry. Harrison Sr. made it clear that he doesn't have much faith in the Cardinals' offense to ever unlock his son fully. "The style of offense that I am accustomed to, that I'm used to watching as a professional eye, as a wide receiver ... I just can't relate to watching that [current] offense, that style of offense," Harrison Sr. said. "Basically, I can't relate to what goes on there. I think that's just peacefully put, without pointing fingers or anything. It's just me. I'm giving you the professional eye. I can't relate to it. It don't add up to me. I can't deal with it." Before Monday night’s contest against the Dallas Cowboys, Harrison Jr. had caught just 24 passes for 396 receiving yards and two touchdowns. In his rookie season in 2024, Harrison Jr. recorded 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns, proving himself as one of the league’s most talented young wideouts. The 23-year-old clearly has star potential, but his current situation in Arizona has been far from ideal. The Cardinals offense has struggled to find rhythm, leaving Harrison Jr. frustrated and underutilized. Steelers' Omar Khan Could Steal Marvin Harrison Jr. From Arizona Khan, known for his bold decision-making, has already shown a willingness to reshape the Steelers’ offense. This past offseason, he pulled off two massive trades, first acquiring DK Metcalf and then trading away superstar wide receiver George Pickens a month later. Those moves signaled a clear intent to build a new offensive identity. Now Khan may have another opportunity to make a splash. If Harrison Jr. becomes available, the Steelers could explore a deal, though it would likely come at a steep price. The Cardinals would demand significant draft capital or young talent in return, but adding a player of Harrison Jr.’s caliber could transform Pittsburgh’s offense for years to come. It is certainly an option worth considering if Khan believes the Steelers are one piece away from taking the next step. Would you want to see the Steelers' General Manager Omar Khan pull off a trade with the Cardinals for Marvin Harrison Jr? Why or why not?
The New York Jets are expected to be active at the trade deadline this season. They've already moved cornerback Michael Carter II, but they could have two or three more trades come together before Tuesday's trade deadline. The Jets have plenty of trade candidates like Breece Hall, Quincy Williams, and Allen Lazard. But there's also one potential trade candidate on their roster that nobody seems to be talking about. Thomas Martinez of Los Angeles Chargers OnSi recently suggested the Jets could trade backup offensive tackle Max Mitchell to the Los Angeles Chargers after Joe Alt's crushing ankle injury. Backup Jets OT Max Mitchell could be a trade candidate for the Chargers "Disaster struck in the second quarter as former Chargers defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day took and outside rush lane on right tackle Trey Pipkins. Unfortunately, Titans edge rusher Jihad Ward also took a wide outside rush working against left tackle Joe Alt," Martinez wrote. "Both Titans defenders met at the top of the arc as Justin Herbert stepped up in the pocket. Joseph-Day violently crashed into Alt's legs as he was engaged with Ward. Joe Alt was carted off the field with a reaggravation of his injured ankle. "No, not Breece Hall. The Chargers need offensive line help. Chargers assistant general manager Chad Alexander was the Jets director of player personnel for five seasons before joining the Chargers. He was on the staff when the Jets drafted offensive tackle Max Mitchell in the fourth round of 2022. The Jets have a pair of young talented tackles ahead of Mitchell on the depth chart." Mitchell isn't a star, but he could plug a hole and fill a role for the Chargers. They desperately need to find an offensive tackle to replace Alt for the time being and Mitchell would be one of the easiest players to trade for in the league. It would likely cost the Chargers a late round pick swap, if that, to land the offensive lineman. Mitchell could be used as a depth piece for the Chargers when Alt returns, but he would be a crucial piece for the time being. It's an idea that hasn't been mentioned much, but it could certainly work if the Chargers are desperate enough.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are being watched closely as the NFL's trade deadline quickly approaches. The fan base wants to see the organization add another weapon on the offensive side of the ball, while the defense could also probably use some added depth and rotational pieces. General Manager Omar Khan already went out and acquired safety Kyle Dugger from the New England Patriots, and that move proved to be a good one as Dugger played well in his debut on Sunday. Pittsburgh will look to add some more missing pieces, but it wouldn't be shocking to see the franchise stay put. Khan is always looking to improve the team, but Pittsburgh is in a tricky spot as it needs to build for the future while also attempting to win now. That means future draft capital is extremely valuable to Pittsburgh, and giving it up in order to win now is a move that will be highly judged if it does not work out. Team insider Gerry Dulac took to social media on Monday where he seemingly teased some fans about a potential move that could be coming for Pittsburgh ahead of Tuesday's deadline. Pittsburgh is certainly calling around the league at this juncture trying to find a good and effective way to upgrade the roster. That could mean bringing in a solidified star, or just rounding out some positions when it comes to depth and positional flexibility. That is every team's goal at the trade deadline, assuming it is a franchise that is trying to win now. Wide receiver has been the position of need for the Steelers for what feels like years, and there are some good ones around the league that could be moved. The pair of receivers for the New Orleans Saints could be intriguing options for Khan as Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed could be dealt, although New Orleans seems content to keep both players with the organization. Jaylen Waddle is another option as the Miami Dolphins could be looking to get rid of all of their best players to set up for a rebuild. The most talked about wide receiver has been Jakobi Meyers of the Las Vegas Raiders. He requested a trade ahead of the 2025 season, but the Raiders said they wouldn't be moving him. He has played throughout the duration of his trade request, while also doubling down on his desire to be moved. Las Vegas dropped to 2-6 on Sunday and are currently last in the AFC West division with every other team being above .500, so Meyers being moved elsewhere seems inevitable. A team like the Steelers should be considered a top option. Steelers Could Move Forward With Current Group At Wide Receiver Pittsburgh could move forward with the current group at wide receiver if a deal can't get agreed to. Calvin Austin III has returned to full health and was the team's most productive receiver on Sunday, and second-year wide receiver Roman Wilson is finally making strides and getting involved. Pittsburgh could still add some depth at the position, but the Steelers have more talent in the wide receiver room than initially thought throughout the 2025 offseason. An addition like Olave, Waddle, or Meyers would be nice, but all three of those players have contract questions that need to be answered in the near future. Giving up a pick for a half-year rental wouldn't be smart for Pittsburgh to do in its current situation, so any trade of that caliber would have to come with some financial commitment after the season concludes.
The Green Bay Packers are already thin at cornerback, and the situation will get worse over the next few weeks. According to Ryan Wood from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Nate Hobbs will miss at least two games with a sprained MCL — it's a grade 1 tear to the ligament. Wood mentions that the injury "is not to the same knee he had surgically repaired for a torn meniscus in training camp," which caused him to miss the regular season opener. Track record of injuries for Nate Hobbs Throughout his NFL career, Hobbs has handled multiple injuries — ankle, knee, concussion. Those forced him to miss 16 games over his final three years with the Las Vegas Raiders, and ultimately were the main reason why the team didn't re-sign him. Available in free agency, Nate Hobbs signed a four-year, $48 million deal with the Packers with $16 million in guarantees. This is the second knee injury Hobbs suffers since joining Green Bay. The first one caused him to miss part of training camp, preseason, and the Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions. Now, he's set to miss more playing time. When available, Hobbs hasn't been effective either. So far this season, he's allowed a 123.7 passer rating when targeted, the worst number amongst Packers defensive backs. He was benched in favor of former seventh-round pick Carrington Valentine over the past two games. Even though he had primarily been a slot defender throughout his career, Hobbs has played more as a boundary corner for the Packers — 222 snaps outside and 38 in the slot. Thin at cornerback Without Nate Hobbs, a difficult situation at corner gets even more complicated. Beyond starters Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine, the options are converted wide receiver Bo Melton and Kamal Hadden. Safety Javon Bullard is the starting slot. Green Bay also has Tyron Herring on the practice squad — and safety Johnathan Baldwin can play at corner as well.
