Scarlett Johansson will not join social media, goes 'against core values'

Scarlett Johansson is one of the celebrities who has still not joined social media and that's not something she wants to change anytime soon. In an interview with InStyle, she opened up about that pressure.

"I got close enough to talk to my therapist about it. I was like, I guess this is something I need to do. But it goes against my core values. I think it was more about: How do I express that, too? Because there's so much expectation..."

With her next movie releasing on July 2, she shared that she even gets asked about joining social media by studios: "I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they're like, 'Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?' [I] get a lot of pressure to join social media."

It's not that she hasn't thought about it, but the problem is that she does not think she could stay true to who she is. "The work that I put out there is all based in truth. That's the key ingredient," the actress explained. "So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon. But I'm not. And I think the film will do fine."

In Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson portrays "skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material." The plot of the new movie has come into focus:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

The rest of the cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein.
