Henry Winkler calls 'Happy Days' co-star Ron Howard "limitless" after his Emmy nomination for 'The Studio'

Ron Howard earned his first-ever acting Emmy nomination for his guest role in Apple TV+'s 'The Studio,' which garnered a total of 23 Emmy nominations. Naturally, his former 'Happy Days' co-star and longtime friend Henry Winkler was quick to share his pride in the accomplishment.

"I called him immediately. He was so excited," he told PEOPLE. "He is limitless." The two even spoke before Howard filmed his scenes. "He loved it," the actor revealed. "He said to me, 'I'm doing it and I'm going full-tilt.'"

In “The Studio,” Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios. As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films. With their power suits masking their never-ending sense of panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting and award show presents them with an opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps and breathes movies, it’s the job Matt’s been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him.

The Studio has had some incredible guest stars in the first season alone, whether they played a character or an over-the-top version of themselves. So could we ever see Winkler joining the cast for some laughs?

"I would do it immediately," he answered, describing the project as "a great show."

The Happy Days alums previously reunited on-stage during the 2024 Emmys to celebrate the 11-season sitcom's 50th anniversary. "I was with him for 45 seconds on the Emmys last year. It was like we had just been on the set a minute ago," Winkler shared. "Oh my God, I love him very much."

Along with Howard, the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category includes Martin Scorsese, Bryan Cranston, Dave Franco, and Anthony Mackie. All episodes of season 1 are currently streaming, and a second season is on the way.
