Deadline has shared that Simone Ashley has joined the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which will bring back legacy cast members Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Emily Blunt as Emily, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel.
The first film came out back in 2006, and the 20th Century Studios' sequel will follow "Streep’s Anna Wintour-like fashion editor, who is facing the headwind decline of the print industry. Her former assistant Emily Charlton is now a bigtime executive in fashion circles, and the two compete for ad revenue."
Kenneth Branagh was previously announced as a new member of the cast and will play Miranda's husband. David Frankel returns to direct with Aline Brosh McKenna, who adapted The Devil Wears Prada from Lauren Weisberger's novel, also back. Producers Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt are involved as well.
However, one original cast member who will not be reprising his role is Adrian Grenier, who portrayed Nate Cooper, Andy's boyfriend.
Ashley can most recently be seen in Picture This, which she also executive produced. She is widely recognized for her role as Kate Sharma/Bridgerton on Netflix's Bridgerton, which is heading into its fourth season, set to premiere in 2026.
The actress is set to reprise her role, and the series has been renewed by the streaming platform for two additional seasons. More credits include Sex Education, The Little Mermaid, and The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland.
It is not yet known who she will play in the follow-up.
Tucci told Variety that the original was "one of the best experiences ever." The Devil Wears Prada 2 is currently in production and will be released on May 1, 2026.
