'Spinal Tap II: The End Continues' trailer: The band reunites for one last show

For most people, "This Is Spinal Tap" was their introduction to the mockumentary format. "This is Spinal Tap" became a comedy classic, and little did Rob Reiner and company know that someday basically every-other network sitcom would be a mockumentary. Christopher Guest was one of the stars of "Spinal Tap," and then became the foremost director of mockumentaries.

Many, many years later, "This is Spinal Tap" is getting a sequel. The trailer for "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues" is now here. Give it a look:

The premise of "This Is Spinal Tap" does allow for the conceit of "Spinal Tap II," all these years later, to make sense. It's about the famous band's reunion show, and real-life famous bands are often having reunion shows even at, shall we say, somewhat-advanced ages. Even Rob Reiner is back to direct, and to play the in-world director Marty Di Bergi.

Of course, there are the trappings of legacy sequel here. "This Is Spinal Tap" has long been a favorite of actual musicians, who find some of the frustrations and indignities Spinal Tap experience all-too relatable. Thus, in this trailer alone we see Questlove, Elton John, and freakin' Paul McCartney.

"The End Continues" is being released on September 12. We'll see if the guys still got it. Both the band, and the actors. Also, Rob Reiner as a director. His filmography is wild, and it really has been languishing for some time.
