The Batman: Part II release date delayed 4 months

DC fans will be bummed to learn that The Batman: Part II’s release date has been delayed once again, and it will now come out almost six years after its predecessor.

Director Matt Reeves posted a brief screen test on social media on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, that revealed the new release date: Feb. 18, 2028.

If this release date holds, The Batman: Part II will come out nearly six years after its predecessor, which was released on Mar. 4, 2022.

The Batman: Part II’s past release dates

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the DC movie’s release date has been changed. It was previously set to be released on Oct. 3, 2025. It was then delayed nearly a full year to Oct. 2, 2026, after the 2023 Hollywood strikes.

The Batman: Part II was once again delayed to Oct. 1, 2027. However, it has now been delayed almost five months to Feb. 18, 2028.

Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The cast will feature returning actors Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.

Reeves is directing the sequel and co-writing the script with Mattson Tomlin. Reeves serves as a producer alongside the likes of James Gunn and Peter Safran.

This series of Batman movies is seemingly disconnected from the DCU, which Gunn launched with Superman in 2025.  It is released under the DC Elseworlds label.

The first Batman movie with Pattinson was a hit in 2022. It grossed over $772 million worldwide on a $200 million budget. The Batman was the first solo movie for the superhero since The Dark Knight Rises.

In between the Batman movies, Ben Affleck donned the cowl in the DCEU. He appeared in movies such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League.

Perhaps The Batman: Part II will fare well on Presidents’ Day weekend in 2028. Other superhero movies, like Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Captain America: Brave New World, have debuted during the holiday weekend.
