It's been a minute since "The Handmaid's Tale" was properly in the zeitgeist. Well, it's time to get back in gear, because the release date for the sixth and final season has been unveiled, alongside a teaser that serves as our first look at the last season.
Hulu scored a big coup when the show was an Emmy success story, including winning Outstanding Drama Series. That was for the first season, though, and the four seasons that have followed have not won any Emmys of note. Not only that, but the fifth season dropped all the way back in 2022, so its been a while.
The dystopian drama based on a book by acclaimed author Margaret Atwood will kick off the sixth season on April 8 with three episodes. After that, Hulu will be doing a week-by-week release schedule until the series finale hits the streaming service on May 27. Given that Elisabeth Moss plays a character named June it kind of feels like a missed opportunity to not have the show end in, you know, June, but we aren't schedule makers.
