This Judgy Sheep Is the True Star of the ALIEN: EARTH Trailer

Sure, the Xenomorph is frightening. But what if he teamed up with four of his closest friends? That’s the kind of Avengers Assemble! moment we do NOT wish to be present for. But that’s what’s coming for us and Earth in Alien: Earth. The trailer for Alien: Earth, an upcoming series on FX that takes us deep into the world of Alien in a whole new way, reveals there are five monsters, “five new life forms from distant planets,” that are threatening to loose themselves upon the Earth and make a BIG mess. On top of all that, there are deep questions of humanity in the mix, and, of course, an all-star cast featuring Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, and more.

You can check out the new Alien: Earth trailer below.

There’s existential dread, there is a menacing sheep, and there’s Timothy Olyphant looking very leader-like. Yes, the Alien: Earth trailer has it all. And, of course, it has a Xenomorph, but still only from a distance. The series is really teasing the appearance of its true lead, but we know there will be blood and face-hugging when the Xenomorph finally does reveal himself.

To help us make sense of the Alien: Earth trailer, FX has also shared a very detailed description of the series. And it makes us wonder, are the five monsters we hear about in the Alien: Earth trailer the five alien lifeforms that have escaped on Earth, OR are they the five corporations that are governing Earth at the time of the series? We think we know the real answer.

Alien: Earth’s description reads:

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

Led by Chandler, the series showcases an expansive international cast, which includes Timothy Olyphant (“Kirsh”), Alex Lawther (“Hermit”), Samuel Blenkin (“Boy Kavalier”), Babou Ceesay (“Morrow”), Adrian Edmondson (“Atom Eins”), David Rysdahl (“Arthur Sylvia”), Essie Davis (“Dame Sylvia”), Lily Newmark (“Nibs”), Erana James (“Curly”), Adarsh Gourav (“Slightly”), Jonathan Ajayi (“Smee”), Kit Young (“Tootles”), Diêm Camille (“Siberian”), Moe Bar-El (“Rashidi”) and Sandra Yi Sencindiver (“Yutani”).

The first season of FX’s Alien: Earth will premiere with two episodes on Tuesday, August 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Hulu and on the FX linear channel at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and on Disney+ internationally. The following episodes will drop weekly. In total, Alien: Earth will run for eight episodes. We can’t wait to see how this Alien: Earth trailer transforms into the real thing.
