TOXIC AVENGER Fans Raised $15 Million to Erase Medical Debt

In the newest version of The Toxic Avenger, medical debut crushed Winston Gooze (Peter Dinklage) before becoming a radioactive superhero. Sadly, in the United States at least, this is a very common problem. (The debt part, not the superhero part). So it’s fitting that instead of a standard marketing gimmick, Cineverse, the distributors of The Toxic Avenger, teamed up with national nonprofit Undue Medical Debt to erase $5M in medical debt for those families least able to pay. For every $1M The Toxic Avenger made at the box office, Cineverse erased another $1M in medical debt. They exceeded this goal by a staggering $10 million.

That heroic quest to eliminate $5 million actually tripled, thanks to the generosity, passion, and empathy of so many diehard The Toxic Avenger fans across the country. This act helped eliminate over $15 million in medical debt for more than 10,000 people in need. (Horror fandom really is the kindest fandom.) But the work of a superhero always continues. For every family that can breathe easier tonight thanks to this initiative, there are still countless others waiting for help to arrive.
