In the newest version of The Toxic Avenger, medical debut crushed Winston Gooze (Peter Dinklage) before becoming a radioactive superhero. Sadly, in the United States at least, this is a very common problem. (The debt part, not the superhero part). So it’s fitting that instead of a standard marketing gimmick, Cineverse, the distributors of The Toxic Avenger, teamed up with national nonprofit Undue Medical Debt to erase $5M in medical debt for those families least able to pay. For every $1M The Toxic Avenger made at the box office, Cineverse erased another $1M in medical debt. They exceeded this goal by a staggering $10 million.
That heroic quest to eliminate $5 million actually tripled, thanks to the generosity, passion, and empathy of so many diehard The Toxic Avenger fans across the country. This act helped eliminate over $15 million in medical debt for more than 10,000 people in need. (Horror fandom really is the kindest fandom.) But the work of a superhero always continues. For every family that can breathe easier tonight thanks to this initiative, there are still countless others waiting for help to arrive. So it’s time for the Toxie fans to continue stepping up to the plate, and keep the fight going. Every contribution matters, with every $10 donated erasing $1,000 of medical debt. So click on this link and help in any way you can.
The film’s tagline is “In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive.” But in this instance, you don’t need toxic powers to accomplish good in the world. The Toxic Avenger is now available on digital platforms, and arrives on physical media on October 28, 2025. It stars Peter Dinklage in the title role, as well as a talented cast that includes Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, and Taylour Paige.
