2025 has been a fairly interesting year, especially for the movie industry. We’ve seen films that left us entertained, dissatisfied, and/or with a neutral feeling. Either way, they helped make this year one we’ll remember forever. But now we can’t help wondering what to expect in 2026.

In this article, we’ll explore five upcoming movies releasing throughout the following year. You might recognize some of these titles and plan on seeing them. Or you may not have, and this list might motivate you to do so. If that’s the case, let’s go ahead and delve into these flicks, shall we?

Stemming from James Gunn’s “Superman,” “Supergirl” is the second DC Universe movie. Craig Gillespie will direct with “House of the Dragon” star Milly Alcock taking center stage. The film features the titular heroine aiding a young woman on a quest for revenge. And it will be adapted from the 2021 “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” comic series.

“Scream 7” is the latest upcoming addition to the renowned ensemble of horror movies. Neve Campbell returns to reprise her iconic franchise role of Sydney Prescott. She must do battle with a new Ghostface while protecting her daughter. In addition to Campbell, Courtney Cox is coming back to portray Gale Weathers.

Continuing the renowned Pixar series, “Toy Story 5” brings back the beloved characters. They must now face the reality that gadgets are replacing them as children’s playthings. Iconic duo Tim Allen and Tom Hanks return to reprise their characters. Unfortunately, other big details regarding this animated movie remain unknown.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” showcases the aftermath of the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Now all alone, Peter focuses on college while leaving his superhero life behind. But a new threat emerges, thus forcing him to re-don his red and blue tights. Tom Holland returns to reprise his role, as does Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Mark Ruffalo. Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink join the cast, with Bernthal portraying the Punisher.

“Avengers: Doomsday” (December 18)

Another of 2026’s upcoming superhero movies, “Avengers: Doomsday,” is another installment of the Multiverse Saga. It features heroes like the New Avengers, the original X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. And they must come together to take on Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. This film, along with “Avengers: Secret Wars,” is meant to close this current MCU arc. It also presents the return of the Russo Brothers and Chris Evans to the franchise.

Final Thoughts on This Movie List

Each entry on this 2026 movie list looks immensely exciting and promising. Personally, I’m eager to see “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and “Avengers: Doomsday.” And I’m curious to see how “Toy Story 5” is handled, given the last film.

Again, each of these upcoming flicks looks like they guarantee a thrilling time. I can see people clamouring for a seat on their premiere days, myself included. And here’s hoping you do the same once this year rolls into the next one.
