There’s a universe where Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are set to star in the next great romance drama together. It’s easy to see why they’d make for a compelling cinematic couple. They’re two of Hollywood’s best, most interesting, most attractive stars. But that’s not the movie they made together. In this universe we’re getting a much more interesting movie from them. The latest trailer for Die My Love shows how madness will turn a loving marriage into a nightmare of hatred.
Hatred and possible violence.
We love when a seemingly nice story turns dark. We like it even more when it doesn’t just go dark, it goes absolutely bonkers. That’s when anything seems possible, which is definitely the case in this trailer.
What exactly is happening and why? How much of it is real and how much of it is someone who is losing themselves in the wilderness? Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Mubi:
Grace, a writer and young mother, is slowly slipping into madness. Locked away in an old house in and around Montana, we see her acting increasingly agitated and erratic, leaving her companion, Jackson, increasingly worried and helpless.
The film comes from director Lynne Ramsay (We Need To Talk About Kevin, You Were Never Really Here). She wrote the script with Enda Walsh (Small Things Like These) and Alice Burch (Lady MacBeth). The screenplay is based on the 2012 Argentine novel Matate, amor by Ariana Harwicz . The film also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, Sissy Spacek, Gabrielle Rose, Debs Howard, Sarah Lind, and Marcus Della Rosa.
Die My Love had its world premiere earlier this year in April at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The rest of us will have to wait just a little bit longer to see it. It comes to theaters on November 7. Try not to go mad before then.
