We love 'Fallout' but Ron Perlman couldn't care less
Lucy and the Ghoul looked scared in the streets of New Vegas at night on Fallout Prime Video

So far, Fallout Season Two has been blowing our expectations out of the water. The plot thickens over just who dropped the first nuclear bombs and why, and the secrets behind Vault-Tec continue to pour out. Ironically, Walton Goggins, the show’s star, has never played the games and doesn’t care to. Actor Ron Perlman joins Goggins in that club. Perlman, famously known among the gaming community as the voice of the Fallout franchise, declared in an interview on the Joe Vulpis Podcast last week that he doesn’t know, doesn’t care, and just wants his 40 bucks and a sandwich.

Ron Perlman is a very well-known actor who boasts several credits in film and television. He’s also prolific in the world of voice acting, especially when it comes to video games. As any devotee of the franchise knows, Perlman is iconic for his voice work in the intro of pretty much every Fallout game there is out there. “War. War Never Changes.” It’s only four simple words, but it has grown to be considered a foundational pillar of the series. Well, apparently, those four words are as far as Perlman is willing to go.

Sitting down with Vulpis, the longtime actor shared that he’s never played any of the games. “The whole Fallout thing is a mystery to me,” he said.

“They invited me to do the very first Fallout back in the ’90s, I think,” said Perlman “They gave me $40 and a sandwich. And a year and a half later, I get a call: ‘Hey, you remember Fallout?'”

“‘No.'”

“‘Well, there’s a second one.’ I go, ‘Why?’ ‘Because the first one went through the f------ roof.’ I go, ‘Really? Cool.’ Do the second one, and then a year later the third, fourth, and now it’s like a whole brand. I didn’t see that coming.”

Perlman goes on to explain that since he was never into the game (and probably never will be), his 40 bucks and sandwich were satisfaction enough.

Perlman has lent his voice to tons of other video games over the years, including Halo 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter, and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay.

While Perlman may never harbor any more interest regarding the Fallout games, he will forever be attached to the explosive franchise. If we learned anything, one thing’s for sure: You offer Perlman 40 bucks and a sandwich in exchange for a few lines? He’ll probably do it.
