We want to live inside these movie sets

Some movie sets are too visually stunning for words. What we can say is that we want to live inside these movies.

'Barbie'

'Barbie'
Heyday Films/Warner Bros.

Who wouldn’t want to live in Barbie Land? As Margot Robbie said, everything in Barbie Land is perfect. It’s pink and pretty, and the Barbies don’t have to pay attention to their needs. They just live ideal day after ideal day. They get to go to the beach, have parties, hang out with their friends, and always look beautiful. How great does that sound?

'The Great Gatsby' (2013)

'The Great Gatsby' (2013)
Village Roadshow Pictures

Baz Luhrmann’s take on The Great Gatsby is so stunning to look at it’s almost unbelievable. It’s an art deco dream that only a director of Luhrmann’s caliber is capable of creating.

'The Polar Express'

'The Polar Express'
Castle Rock Entertainment

Lots of Christmas movies would be wonderful to live inside of, but there’s something so enchanting about living inside The Polar Express. We’d be happy to live on the train or at the North Pole, but we’d be even happier to take the Polar Express to the North Pole on Christmas Eve and spend the holiday with Santa. And who doesn’t wanna taste that hot chocolate?

'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'

'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'
Imagine Entertainment

How the Grinch Stole Christmas would be equally as fun to live inside of. Whoville is the perfect place to spend the holiday. Everybody is in good spirits, and everything is exaggerated. Living on a snowflake might not be the best plan long term, as it could easily melt, but it would be a blast while it lasts.

'Mamma Mia!'

'Mamma Mia!'
Littlestar Productions

Traipsing about Greece singing ABBA with Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep? Sign us up. Mamma Mia! is magical and exciting, and how could you get sick of ABBA songs?

'Moulin Rouge!'

'Moulin Rouge!'
Bazmark Productions

Life inside Moulin Rouge! would be dark and dramatic yet bright and exhilarating. You'd get to romp around singing show-tune medleys of your favorite songs, all while watching cancan performances and probably dancing in a rainstorm of feathers. Just be careful not to catch tuberculosis.

'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'

'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'
Walt Disney Pictures

Of all the fictional lands, Narnia is perhaps the most exquisite. Even when it’s eternal winter, it’s warm enough for the citizens to be out in the snow, and they get to travel by sleigh, which is the most whimsical of all modes of transportation. Narnia is equally as stunning in warmer weather, making it an exceptional place to live if you enjoy the change of seasons (no matter how long it might take).

'Harry Potter'

'Harry Potter'
Warner Bros. Pictures

Doesn’t everyone want to live at Hogwarts? We certainly do. We’d take all of the classes and get sorted into a house. We join a Quidditch team and hone our wizardry. It would be especially fun around Christmas time when Hogwarts looks its most beautiful. Let us live inside any movie from the franchise, and we’d be happy.

9 of 30

'Avatar'

'Avatar'
20th Century Fox

One of the most visually stunning fictional places from modern cinema, Avatar's Pandora is a futuristic jungle dreamland. It's mesmerizing and pleasing, and it'd be a blast to explore.

10 of 30

'The Grand Budapest Hotel'

'The Grand Budapest Hotel'
Fox Searchlight Pictures

We want to know what Wes Anderson‘s actual house looks like because if it’s anything like any of his movies, it’s got to be the most aesthetically pleasing home in the world. The Grand Budapest Hotel is Anderson’s most stunning film, which says something. We could check into this hotel and never check out.

11 of 30

'The Lord of the Rings'

'The Lord of the Rings'
New Line Cinema

The events in The Lord of the Rings would not be fun to live through, but the set would be stunning. Even if we had to live in an abode that’s dug into the side of a hill, we’d still take it if it meant walking out to those beautiful vistas every day.

12 of 30

'The Sound of Music'

'The Sound of Music'
Argyle Enterprises, Inc.

We don’t just want to live in central Europe. We want to frolic near the Alps while singing with Julie Andrews. We want to prance around town while learning the ABCs of music. We want to go home to our beautiful European mansion and perform what we learned all day at a beautiful party for all of our father's friends. We don’t want to live inside The Sound of Music after the intermission, but everything leading up to it would be an absolute dream.

13 of 30

'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'

'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'
The Zanuck Company

Talk about a whimsical place to live. The Wonka Factory is every child’s dream. Heck, it’s every adult’s dream. You’d never get hungry because everything is edible and there would be thousands of rooms to visit so you’d never get bored. Even if you weren’t allowed to leave, you’d have all the space you need. An edible utopia.

'Beauty and the Beast'

'Beauty and the Beast'
Walt Disney

Living anywhere inside Beauty and the Beast would be a dream. Belle’s village, though she rags on it, and the people that live there look simple in the best way. And although the beast isn’t the best roommate, his house is objectively awesome. We could get lost in that huge library for days on end.

15 of 30

'The Wizard of Oz'

'The Wizard of Oz'
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

Parts of the Land of Oz would be awful to live inside, but most of it would be fun and whimsical, especially the city. There’s magic and bright colors, and thanks to the yellow brick road, it would be awfully easy to navigate. And if we wanted to get anywhere in a pinch, we could just click our heels together.

16 of 30

'Halloweentown'

'Halloweentown'
Walt Disney

It is our sincerest displeasure that there is not an actual portal to take citizens of the earth to Halloweentown and vice versa. Even if we could only access Halloweentown for 24 hours, we’d be all for it. Trick-or-treating in Halloweentown would be far better than trick-or-treating literally anywhere that we can actually get to.

17 of 30

'Marie Antoinette'

'Marie Antoinette'
Columbia Pictures

We want to be Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette sitting in the Palace of Versailles, being tended to while surrounded by cakes. We wouldn't even have to eat the cakes — we'd just want them to be there for aesthetics.

18 of 30

'Edward Scissorhands'

'Edward Scissorhands'
20th Century Fox

Edward Scissorhands is bizarre, but that’s what makes it so great. There would be something so comforting about living on a street where all the houses are different shades of pastel. And although it could get a little mundane, there would always be that dark mansion on the hill to look at, and remember that mystery isn’t too far off.

19 of 30

'Aladdin'

'Aladdin'
Walt Disney

Honestly, we’d be happy to live anywhere in Aladdin (minus the volcano). The castle would be preferable, but we would be happy to live in Genie’s Lamp as well. The color scheme is royal and enticing, and riding a magic carpet has to be as fun as it looks.

20 of 30

'The Little Mermaid'

'The Little Mermaid'
Walt Disney

The actual bottom of the ocean would be terrifying and untenable long-term, but the ocean in The Little Mermaid is beautiful and generally safe. The mermaids seem nice, and there are tons of fun sea creatures to befriend. It doesn’t seem cold either, and if we wanted to go back up to the surface, we could.

21 of 30

'Coco'

'Coco'
Walt Disney

Disney and Pixar really know how to make animated movies that people want to step inside. We would love to live inside Coco. The movie's colors, shapes, and general feel make it seem lively and inviting. And we’re sure we would have a ton of fun.

22 of 30

'Ratatouille'

'Ratatouille'
Walt Disney

Like with other movies set in certain cities, we don’t just want to live in Paris. We want to live in Ratatouille’s Paris. Ratatouille’s Paris is clean (aside from the rats) and full of whimsy. The town always looks like it just rained, and though it is a romanticized version of the city, we think it looks pretty idyllic.

23 of 30

'Alice in Wonderland'

'Alice in Wonderland'
Walt Disney

Call us crazy, but we want to live inside Wonderland. And not the live-action version that Alice has to save. We want to live inside the 1951 animated version. It’s kooky and crazy and nonsensical, but that’s exactly why we love it. We also have a strange desire to eat and drink the food that makes Alice change sizes, but we would presume we’re not alone in that.

24 of 30

'The Nightmare Before Christmas'

'The Nightmare Before Christmas'
Touchstone Pictures

Anyone who loves the holidays for their festivity would be ecstatic to live inside The Nightmare Before Christmas. Halloween Town and Christmas Town are equally as enchanting, and we’d be happy to switch back and forth between the two at any time.

25 of 30

'Encanto'

'Encanto'
Walt Disney

Few movies are as bright and colorful as Encanto. The Family Madrigal lives in a bright and beautiful home with flowers and magic abounding. It’s lively and fun, and it’s a place we’d love to stay long-term. We would also love to know what our gift would be if we were to join the Family Madrigal.

26 of 30

'The Greatest Showman'

'The Greatest Showman'
Laurence Mark Productions

We don’t know about you, but to us, living in a world where Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron are in charge of the circus and singing about it all day sounds like a pretty good place to live. Ideally, we’d be learning trapeze from Zendaya, but we’d also settle for being a background dancer.

27 of 30

'Star Wars'

'Star Wars'
Lucasfilm Ltd.

We will live inside any Star Wars movie if it means flying on a spaceship and using a lightsaber. In our minds, space in Star Wars is a lot more fun and a lot less scary than space in real life.

28 of 30

'Pirates of the Caribbean'

'Pirates of the Caribbean'
Walt Disney

Sure, we could move to the Caribbean to live out our fantasy of living inside Pirates of the Caribbean, but we don’t just want to live in the Caribbean. We want to live inside Pirates of the Caribbean, which took place back in the 1700s. Yes, it would smell terrible and perhaps be generally unbearable, but it would also be lots of fun.

29 of 30

'The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement'

'The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement'
Walt Disney

The first Princess Diaries movie takes place in San Francisco, but for the second, Mia moves to the fictional land over which she’s about to reign, Genovia. It’s quaint and pastoral and beautiful, and who wouldn’t want to live inside a castle? And don’t get us started on Mia’s closet.

30 of 30

'Beetlejuice'

'Beetlejuice'
The Geffen Company

Yes, living inside Beetlejuice would be strange and terrifying, but that’s exactly the point. We wouldn’t want to spend too much time living inside Beetlejuice, but it would be a fun place to go on certain occasions. Imagine spending Halloween in Beetlejuice. Now that would be a holiday to remember.
