Friday Night Lights

Football is life in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas, where “Friday Night Lights” takes place. Here, everything revolves around the Panthers, the local high school football team, who face high expectations to bring home a state championship. Over the show’s five seasons, the players come and go, pursuing their own paths after leaving school, but they all have a constant source of support in Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), the team’s head coach, and his wife, Tammy (Connie Britton), who also works at the school. Every season of “Friday Night Lights” is available to watch in Hulu’s on-demand library.

Full Count

Released in 2023, “Full Count” is a Hulu original docuseries that follows 10 professional baseball teams in South Korea as they battle for the top spot in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). The show captures all of the season’s ups and downs, from bitter losses to unexpected standout performances to hard-fought victories. At the same time, “Full Count” puts a spotlight on the athletes themselves, including how they became professional baseball players and what they hope to accomplish in their careers. You can find “Full Count” in Hulu’s on-demand library.

Grails: When Sneakers Change the Game

Directed by ESPN’s Hannah Storm, this six-episode docuseries hit Hulu in 2022. It centers around Earl Cooper and Olajuwon Ajanaku, who met playing golf at Morehouse College, where they took home a National Championship. Together, the pair launched an apparel and lifestyle brand called Eastside Golf with the hopes of transforming golf culture and encouraging more young Black kids to take up the sport. They kick things off by designing a new shoe that earns serious attention in the sneaker community, including the higher-ups at Nike. You can watch “Grails: When Sneakers Change the Game” on-demand with any Hulu plan.

The League

Friendly competition goes out the window with “The League,” a comedy series about a group of backstabbing and scheming friends who will do anything it takes to win their fantasy football league. The Chicago-based crew includes Pete Eckhart (Mark Duplass), the league’s repeat champion in the midst of a divorce, Kevin MacArthur (Stephen Rannazzisi), a married father and the league commissioner, and Rodney Ruxin (Nick Kroll), a sarcastic attorney who isn’t afraid to play dirty. Over the show’s seven seasons, the friends take turns winning, losing and serving out humiliating punishments. “The League” is available on-demand on Hulu.

Letterkenny

Created, directed and co-written by Jared Keeso (who also stars in the show), this Canadian comedy series is set in Letterkenny, a fictional rural town outside of Ontario. It focuses on the everyday lives of the community’s residents, who are divided into three major groups: the drug-dealing outcasts (known as the “skids”), the farmers (the “hicks”) and the hockey players. Fights and feuds are the norm in Letterkenny, as these crews constantly find themselves at odds with one another. In the middle of it all is Wayne (Keeso), a member of the hicks who runs a produce stand in town. You can watch every season of “Letterkenny” on-demand on Hulu.

Mike

“Mike” is a Hulu original drama series based on the life of professional boxer Mike Tyson, starring Trevante Rhodes as the titular athlete. The show re-traces the boxer’s complicated personal and professional life, starting with his troubled childhood in New York and, later, his rocky relationship with promoter Don King (Russell Hornsby). “Mike” also focuses on the controversial figure’s hard-partying ways, the years he spent behind bars, that notorious fight with Evander Holyfield, and, finally, his return to public favor. Released in 2022, the series is now available on-demand on Hulu.

One Tree Hill

Set in fictional Tree Hill, North Carolina, this teen drama series tells the story of half-brothers Nathan (James Lafferty) and Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Muray). The boys grew up separately but eventually crossed paths in high school when they both joined the basketball team. Like their father, Dan (Paul Johansson), both brothers are talented players. But they find it hard to overcome the tension between them, which stems from the fact that Lucas has never had the chance to build a relationship with their dad. All nine seasons of “One Tree Hill” are available in Hulu’s on-demand library.

Saturdays in the South

Split into eight parts, this documentary series dives into the history and traditions of football in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). “Saturdays in the South” begins shortly after the Civil War, as football is starting to gain popularity in the South, and continues up until 2019 when the SEC celebrated its 150th anniversary. Along the way, the series pays homage to the people who helped make the SEC the powerhouse that it is today – including Archie Manning, Bear Bryant, Bo Jackson, Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban. To watch “Saturdays in the South,” you’ll need a Hulu plan with the ESPN Plus Add-on or the Disney Bundle.

Shoresy

In this spinoff of “Letterkenny,” Keeso stars as Shoresy, a veteran hockey player who’s on a mission to make sure that his team never loses again. It’s a tall task, considering that his squad, the Sudbury Bulldogs, has just lost 20 games and is currently sitting in last place in the Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization (NOSHO). Still, Shoresy is sure that he can take the Bulldogs from losers to winners – and finds a fresh set of recruits to help him get there. You can watch “Shoresy” on-demand with any Hulu plan.

Welcome to Wrexham

In 2020, actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds decided to buy Wrexham Association Football Club, a struggling soccer team in Wales – despite not having any experience in sports ownership. Their journey to turn the club around is chronicled in “Welcome to Wrexham,” an FX documentary series now in its second season. The show also focuses on the less-famous personalities behind the team, including its players and fans – many of whom are cautiously optimistic about the new direction that their club is taking. You can find every episode of “Welcome to Wrexham” on-demand on Hulu.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty

Based on a book by Jeff Pearlman, this HBO series provides a dramatized look at the Los Angeles Lakers organization in the 1980s. The show begins in 1979, right as Jerry Buss (played by John C. Reilly) becomes the team’s new owner and selects Magic Johnson (portrayed by Quincy Isaiah) as the first overall pick in the NBA Draft, beginning the Lakers’ Showtime era. It showcases the excitement around the team during that time, as well as the conflicts and controversy that lurked beneath the surface. You can watch “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” on-demand on Hulu (with the Max Add-on).
