Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, with a seating capacity of approximately 3,000 spectators, hosted the 10th match of the Malaysia Quadrangular T20I Series. In this match, Saudi Arabia defeated Singapore by seven wickets.
Singapore won the toss and opted to bat first, a decision that ultimately didn’t work in their favor. They managed to score just 112 runs in 20 overs. Their top order struggled, with one batter dismissed for a duck and two others scoring only one run each. By the end of the powerplay, Singapore had already lost three wickets.
Chandramauli Sridev, who scored 29 runs off 36 balls, joined Captain and Wicketkeeper Manpreet Singh to build a steady 39-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, Saudi Arabia’s bowlers kept things tight, applying pressure and limiting scoring opportunities. Collectively, they claimed eight wickets in the innings. As a result, the last batter, Vedant Nagpaul, slated to bat at number eleven, was not required to come to the crease.
During Saudi Arabia’s innings, opener Faisal Khan was dismissed early by Daksh Tyagi for a two-ball duck in the first over, but Abdul Waheed Ghaffar took control, scoring a quick 42 runs off 28 balls. The strong start laid the foundation for a crucial 82-run partnership with Usman Khalid.
Usman Khalid was later dismissed by Vedant Nagpaul in the 9.1th over after contributing 28 runs. Faizan Tahir and Nawazish Akhtar remained unbeaten on 20 and 18 runs, respectively. Singapore’s bowlers struggled to strike at key moments, managing to take only three wickets during Saudi Arabia’s innings. The chase was wrapped up in just 14.1 overs.
After their loss to Saudi Arabia, Singapore is set to face Thailand in their next match.
