Daniel Suárez Reveals Six-Word Christmas Warning From Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen is known for his intensity on the Formula 1 grid but according to NASCAR driver Daniel Suárez, that same fire shows up even at family gatherings.

Suárez, who is married to Julia Piquet (sister of Verstappen’s partner Kelly Piquet), recently shared a hilarious and revealing story about the reigning F1 champion during a family Christmas in Brazil. The group had planned a relaxing evening with video games, but things escalated when Mario Kart came out.

The Trackhouse Racing driver explained that he and his wife had spent a lot of time during the pandemic playing Mario Kart, and they were confident in their skills. So when they went up against Max and others at the party, it wasn’t even close at first. “We would often win,” Suárez said. “Max would come in third or fourth and he did not like that.”

The next day, Verstappen made a move that perfectly captured his trademark mindset. According to Suárez, the Red Bull driver bought his own Nintendo Switch, and sent a clear message that by next Christmas he’d be “ready to compete on equal terms.”
