Weather conditions could play a role during the 2026 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit, though current forecasts suggest mostly dry conditions across the three days.

According to forecasts from BBC Weather and AccuWeather, mild temperatures and moderate winds are expected throughout the weekend, with only a small chance of rain on race day.

Weather Conditions for Sprint Race and Qualifying

Saturday’s forecast currently looks clear and sunny, making it the most stable day of the race weekend.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 17°C, with winds blowing from the southeast at roughly 20 km/h. Forecast models indicate no rain is expected during the Sprint race or the later qualifying session.

The favorable conditions follow an intense Sprint Qualifying session, where Mercedes secured a front-row lockout with George Russell taking pole ahead of teammate Kimi Antonelli. Meanwhile, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and Oscar Piastri closed out the top 5.

Stable weather conditions could therefore allow teams to focus primarily on performance and race strategy during Saturday’s sessions. In summary, the sunny conditions should provide consistent track temperatures, allowing teams to maximize performance during both competitive sessions.

Weather Conditions for the Chinese Grand Prix Race

Race day on Sunday, March 15, could bring slightly more variable conditions compared to Saturday.

Forecasts suggest partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 15–16°C, while winds from the east-northeast could reach close to 19 km/h. Some models also show a small chance of showers later in the day, though rain is currently unlikely during the race window.

Even if rain stays away, wind direction could still influence overtaking opportunities and car stability through the circuit’s high-speed sections.

With mild temperatures and relatively stable conditions expected overall, teams are unlikely to face major weather disruptions as the Chinese Grand Prix weekend unfolds in Shanghai.
