Lewis Hamilton‘s Ferrari dream has been nothing short of a disaster. In the first half of the season, the seven-time world champion has failed to make a mark. Things have fallen to such an extent that Hamilton is questioning his own worth at Maranello. Now, former F1 driver Jarno Trulli has speculated over the reason behind the Briton’s struggles.
The seven-time world champion had high hopes for his move to the Italian team, with the aim of bringing glory back to Maranello. Unfortunately, Lewis Hamilton has not even grabbed a single podium yet. Albeit he did win the Sprint race in China. Following the Hungarian GP, Hamilton called himself completely useless for the Prancing Horse and claimed that he should be replaced.
Trulli wondered whether Lewis Hamilton’s age might finally be taking a toll on his performance. Though, the 40-year-old has shown no signs of being unfit. He even questioned the SF25 or perhaps any missing link at the team. Moreover, Jarno Trulli did not rule out the possibility of the seven-time world champion having reached his peak in Formula 1.
Is it his age? The car? Something missing within the team? Or maybe he’s simply reached his limit. It’s so strange—it’s like he’s struggling to stand out. He disappoints in qualifying, performs only slightly better in the race, but never shines. This isn’t the Hamilton we know.
Jarno Trulli told La Gazzetta dello Sport
Similar to Trulli’s views, former F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone had reckoned that Hamilton should simply retire from the sport rather than wait till he gets a serious injury on-track.
“Right now, Hamilton’s Ferrari chapter isn’t telling the story he hoped for.”

Ferrari brought Lewis Hamilton to the team this season as one of the biggest driver moves in F1 history. The Italian team wanted the British driver to take the lead and bring championship success. However, their first season together could not have gone worse.
Jarno Trulli asserted that it is odd to see Lewis Hamilton stuck in such a situation. After all, the 40-year-old had dominated Formula 1 during his prime days at Mercedes. The 51-year-old insisted that only Hamilton can know what’s truly going on within his head amid these struggles. Though, Trulli made it clear that the F1 star was not really bringing any valuable contribution to Maranello at the moment.
The truth is, only he knows what’s going through his mind right now. At the moment, it doesn’t seem like Hamilton can contribute much to Ferrari.
Jarno Trulli stated
It seems that the F1 paddock is slowly losing sympathy towards Lewis Hamilton’s struggles at Ferrari. Initially, his underwhelming results were blamed on adapting to a new team. However, pundits are growing tired with Hamilton’s demoralising statements one after the other. Now, it’s time for the seven-time world champion to recharge in the summer break before bouncing back at all costs.
