After Ferrari President John Elkann publicly criticized Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc following the team’s disappointing performance at the 2025 São Paulo Grand Prix, both drivers have now shared their first social media posts, and their messages appear to speak volumes.
Elkann’s remarks, made soon after the Brazil GP, drew attention across the Formula 1 world.
While praising Ferrari’s mechanics and engineers for their performance and progress, he made a pointed comment about his drivers, stating, “If you look at the rest, it’s not up to par. And we certainly have drivers who need to focus on driving and talk less.”
The comment came after a tough weekend for Ferrari, as both Leclerc and Hamilton retired early, one after a collision, while the other retired due to front wing and floor damage, respectively.
Hamilton adopted a calm but resolute tone in his Instagram post following Ferrari’s tough weekend at Interlagos. The seven-time world champion thanked fans for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to the team.
“Brazil. Thank you for all the love, always. In the end, it wasn’t the race we wanted. It’s gutting, especially after some good progress, but we will move on. I back my team. I back myself. I will not give up. Not now, not then, not ever,” the 40-year-old stated.
The British driver's message reflected composure and determination rather than frustration, a clear statement of intent that he remains focused on rebuilding momentum heading into the final three races of the season.
In his latest Instagram post, Leclerc reflected on Ferrari’s struggles in São Paulo, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and resilience.
Sharing a photo alongside team principal Frederic Vasseur, Leclerc wrote: “A very difficult weekend in São Paulo. Disappointing to come back home with nearly no points at all for the team in what is a critical moment of the season to fight for 2nd place in the constructors’ championship."
"It’s uphill from now, and it’s clear that only unity can help us turn that situation around in the last 3 races. We’ll give it all, as always,” the Monegasque driver added.
His message carried a diplomatic tone, highlighting teamwork and collective effort.
Ferrari’s underwhelming performance in Brazil has increased the pressure heading into the final races of 2025.
After the race at Interlagos, the Italian constructor stands in fourth position with 362 points, 4 points behind Red Bull and 46 points behind Mercedes, while McLaren is all the way up with 756 points.
While internal tensions have surfaced publicly, both Hamilton and Leclerc’s measured posts suggest a shared focus on restoring balance and maximizing results before the season concludes.
The next three rounds will reveal whether Ferrari can translate that message of unity into performance, or whether Elkann’s comments mark the start of deeper unrest within the Scuderia.
