Lewis Hamilton Compares Italian GP Ferrari Moment to Watching Michael Schumacher as a Kid

Lewis Hamilton is preparing for one of the most emotional weekends of his career as he prepares himself to take the track in Ferrari red at Monza.

The seven-time World Champion admitted the occasion will bring back memories of watching Michael Schumacher during his childhood.

“I can’t wait to get on track tomorrow,” Hamilton said ahead of the Italian Grand Prix. “For a moment, I’ll go back to being a kid, remembering when I used to watch Michael Schumacher drive the Ferrari out of the garage at Monza, only this time, it’ll be me behind the wheel.”

It’s a moment steeped in symbolism. Schumacher’s dominance in the early 2000s not only defined an era for Ferrari, but it inspired many young drivers as they chased their own dreams of being in F1.

Now, Hamilton stands on the other side of the story: wearing the iconic scarlet suit, ready to write his own chapter at Ferrari’s home race.

Hamilton has been embraced by Ferrari fans since his signing was announced, but Monza is a different stage altogether.

The Tifosi are famously passionate, and their expectations are high. Hamilton knows that Sunday’s race will carry a weight of history as he takes to the track where Schumacher became a legend.

Still chasing an eighth world title, Hamilton remains focused on performance—but he hasn’t hidden how much this weekend means to him personally. “It’s a dream I’ve carried for years,” he admitted. “Now it’s becoming real.”

No matter the result, Hamilton’s Ferrari debut at Monza already feels like a moment destined for the history books.
