Lewis Hamilton had a special relationship with Niki Lauda during his time at Mercedes. The Austrian was instrumental in bringing Hamilton to the Silver Arrows in 2013. Now, as Ferrari celebrates the 50th anniversary of Lauda’s maiden F1 title, Hamilton has given a special message to the Late F1 legend.
Niki Lauda served as a mentor for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. The Austrian was always there to help and guide the seven-time world champion no matter the situation. The two reached impressive success in the Turbo Hybrid era. Unfortunately, Lauda passed away in 2018. Hamilton paid tribute to the legend by using a special helmet at the Monaco GP that year, a race he won.
Lewis Hamilton was glad to be able to honor Niki Lauda at Monza, the Temple of Speed. Ferrari is running a special livery this weekend, to match Lauda’s title winning car Moreover, Hamilton is wearing a special crash helmet once again. The seven-time world champion reckoned that he could still feel that Lauda is right by his side at every race. The two had such a special connection that the 40-year-old can still guess what the Austrian would be saying to him if he was there at that moment.

Lewis Hamilton told Scuderia Ferrari
The seven-time world champion is on the backfoot even before the start of the Italian GP. Lewis Hamilton will face a five-place grid penalty on Sunday for failing to abide by yellow flags at last weekend’s race at Zandvoort.
The British driver is still not happy with the Stewards’ decision, and called the penalty harsh. Although, Lewis Hamilton claimed that he had moved past the incident and will now embrace for a more challenging run on Sunday from the midfield. Additionally, Hamilton asserted that he was going to leave in the present and not waste his energy on what has happened in the past or worry about the future. The 40-year-old seems to have learnt that thinking on such aspects did more harm than good, and that often is really the case.
Obviously, losing so many positions here at Monza is tough, and I can’t help but feel the penalty was harsh. But that’s how it is, and I’ve already moved on: starting from the midfield will make the challenge even more exciting. Over time, I’ve learned to live fully in the present – dwelling on the past doesn’t help, and thinking too much about the future isn’t useful either.
Lewis Hamilton added
Lewis Hamilton is not going to have an easy weekend at Monza. The seven-time world champion had high hopes for the Italian GP as a Ferrari driver but the penalty threw a spanner in the works. Nevertheless, Hamilton is already enjoying the atmosphere at the Temple of Speed as a Ferrari driver for the first time in his career. There’s no better way to come to Monza as a Ferrari driver and then pay tribute to a legend like Niki Lauda.
