Lewis Hamilton has never been shy about letting his on-track achievement speak for themselves — but this week, the seven-time world champion gave fans a timely reminder of one of his iconic records at Monza.
In a post on X, Hamilton simply asked: “What’s the fastest lap at Monza” and tagged @AskPerplexity, the AI-powered search assistant.
The response came back quickly: “The fastest official lap at Monza in Formula 1 is 1:18.887 set by Lewis Hamilton in qualifying for the 2020 Italian GP, which is also the record for the fastest average lap speed in F1 history.”
That lap, set during Q3 in 2020, remains the benchmark at the “Temple of Speed.” With an average speed of 264.362 km/h (164.267 mph), Hamilton’s run not only secured pole position but also cemented his place in F1 history as the driver who tamed Monza quicker than anyone else.
Fans were quick to react, with one writing: “I’m not Perplexity but I think the GOAT set the quickest quali lap at Monza.”
Another added: “SET BY MY HERO Lewis Hamilton in 2020 with a time of 1:18.887.” Others were already looking ahead, manifesting a new record this weekend: “The one I’m manifesting you doing on Saturday.”
