Lewis Hamilton is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, both on and off the F1 grid. Over the weekend, the seven-time world champion took to Instagram to share an emotional update about his beloved bulldog, Roscoe, who has been a constant presence in his life and in the paddock.

In a lengthy post, Hamilton revealed Roscoe has been admitted to hospital after struggling to breathe due to pneumonia. The dog was sedated to help doctors perform checks, but during the process, Roscoe’s heart stopped.

Hamilton explained that medical staff managed to revive him, though Roscoe is now in a coma while the team works carefully to stabilize him. “We don't know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we’ll try to wake him up. I’m by his side and want to thank you all for your prayers and support,” Hamilton wrote

Outpouring Support from the F1 Community

Hamilton’s update immediately drew responses from across the F1 paddock, underscoring the affection both fans and fellow drivers have for Roscoe, who has become something of a mascot in recent years. George Russell offered a simple but heartfelt, “Thinking of you mate.”

Alex Albon, through his pet-focused channel Albon Pets, also sent words of encouragement; “We are thinking and praying for you all the time Roscoe. You will pull through. Please get better Roscoe.”

Fans quickly filled Hamilton’s comments section with messages of support, sharing stories of how Roscoe’s cheerful appearances at race weekends had brought them joy.

More Than Just a Pet

For Hamilton, Roscoe has been more than a companion; he has been a source of comfort during the highs and lows of a demanding career.

From walking the paddock in sunglasses to featuring in light-hearted social media moments, Roscoe has become nearly as recognizable as his owner. The update reminded fans that behind the trophies and spotlight, Hamilton is first and foremost someone who loves deeply and worries just like anyone else.

As Hamilton waits anxiously by Roscoe’s side, the F1 world watches with him, hoping for recovery that will bring his four-legged friend back to the paddock where he has long been adored.
