Max Verstappen defied all odds and won the 2024 World Drivers’ Championship, surviving an extremely difficult season. Red Bull’s performance struggle hindered the Dutchman’s chances at competing for the race wins mid-way through the season. But Verstappen didn’t lose his hope and kept grinding solid results to keep his points lead alive. The win gave him the perfect opportunity call out his critics, including McLaren’s Zak Brown over his hurtful past comments.
Zak Brown never hesitated to comment on matters ongoing at Red Bull amidst the championship tussle between Verstappen and his driver Lando Norris . In one such occasion, Brwon claimed that Max Verstappen was capable of winning championships only in the fastest car. However, the 2024 season was the exact opposite situation for Verstappen due to the struggles in the pace of the chassis.
Verstappen did not miss the chance to take a dig at Brown after winning the fourth championship. The McLaren CEO came to congratulate the championship winner during the interview. The Dutchman immediately recalled the quotes and claimed that this year was a bit different from what Brown had commented.
And like you said, you know, before I could only win it in the fastest car! This year its been a little bit different!

Max Verstappen continued to showcase the great racing mettle against the rivals on the grid amidst struggling pace. The Dutchman put forth a stellar drive at the Brazilian GP and made no mistakes throughout the race. Hence, Verstappen reckoned that this ability of the team and himself to rarely make any mistakes helped him secure the championship.
Just staying calm and working with the team back at the factory. We work well and rarely make mistakes.
Max Verstappen said during the post-race interview.

The 2024 season still has two more races pending with the Constructors’ Champion yet to be decided. Ferrari and McLaren seem to be in the running for victory as Red Bull has fallen way back. However, Milton Keynes will give it their all to attempt to contend for the win alongside Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
