Team Penske Team Information

Established in 1966, Team Penske is a motorsports juggernaut and a passion project of team owner Roger Penske. Currently, the organization competes in the NASCAR Cup Series, NTT IndyCar Series, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and the FIA World Endurance Championship.

As of 2025, Team Penske has recorded 44 drivers’ championships between 11 different racing divisions, including five in the NASCAR Cup Series. In November 2024, the organization became just the third team in the history of NASCAR’s top-level to collect three consecutive championships, joining Hendrick Motorsports and Junior Johnson & Associates.

The organization’s NASCAR Cup Series program currently consists of three chartered full-time entries, with a driver lineup that includes 2022 Daytona 500 winner Austin Cindric, 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney, and three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano.

Team Penske made its first foray into the NASCAR Cup Series in 1972 with Mark Donahue behind the wheel, and with Roger Penske helping fund the way in 1989, Rusty Wallace would secure his lone NASCAR Cup Series title in the No. 27 for Blue Max Racing. Penske would purchase the team outright in late 1990, and heading into 1991, Penske renumbered the car driven by Rusty Wallace to the No. 2.

In the NASCAR Cup Series, Team Penske has brought 11 different drivers to Victory Lane, including Brad Keselowski – who captured the team’s first NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2012. Joey Logano has brought the team three titles in 2018, 2022, and 2024, while Ryan Blaney hoisted the championship trophy in 2023.
