Watch: Charles Leclerc admits to ‘TARGETING’ a win at his home race the Monaco GP
Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Scuderia Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc has been a consistent performer on the grid and has amassed five wins and 34 podiums in his F1 career. However, the Monegasque driver has failed to win the Monaco Grand Prix, which remains a dream of his to date, being his hometown.

Charles Leclerc has been in good form this season and has made the most out of the SF-24 on most occasions. The challenger has proved very competent in terms of speed and performance on the weekends. The 26-year-old driver has yet to win a race this season but has been on the podium four times.

As the Monaco Grand Prix approaches, Leclerc hopes for a fairytale win in his homeland as Ferrari looks much more convincing this season. The Maranello-based team has bridged the gap with their rivals and is much more hopeful of delivering in upcoming races.

Second or third is not really something that excites me… the win is what we need to target. Charles Leclerc said in a press conference

Leclerc has been unfortunate in the past seasons during the Monaco Grand Prix but looks positive coming into this weekend. The SF-24 has been performing well and the 26-year-old is known for his one-lap pace, that is all that matters around the Monaco circuit.

Charles Leclerc downplays concerns with power unit

The team at Ferrari experienced some issues with the deployment of the power unit last weekend at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. However, concerns regarding the same have been downplayed by Charles Leclerc going into the Monaco weekend.

No, it's not a concern. Obviously, we have seen it in the last race a little bit. We've seen it in Jeddah a little bit, but I think it's more the way we manage everything. Charles Leclerc asserted to media including RacingNews365.

Ferrari looks confident heading into this week’s event and is certain that any issues in their car going forward will not be a hindrance. Leclerc has also highlighted that the process by which Ferrari works does not involve any concerns on his behalf, and he has vested his full faith in the team and its efforts.

Leclerc also states that Monaco is a track that does not depend outright on power units like the circuits of Jeddah and Imola. The 26-year-old also shed light on the efficiency and effectiveness of hybrid deployment being less critical on the circuit, which makes Monaco a perfect track for a team like Ferrari. Keeping everything in view, the outfit could be seen challenging for the top spots around the 3.3 km long circuit.
