Yuki Tsunoda breaks silence on rumors of leaving Red Bull family
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Red Bull has been in a dilemma for the past few years. Sergio Perez has been unable to match Max Verstappen ‘s level in the RB20, and possible candidates for the seat include Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo . This overlook has been rumored to have forced Yuki Tsunoda to look for a seat elsewhere on the gird, which the Japanese driver has reflected upon.

Entering the 2024 season, Yuki Tsunoda began his fourth campaign in F1. With a respectable amount of experience and impressive performances, the 24-year-old gained praise from all around the grid. Moreover, even in the intra-team rivalry against Daniel Ricciardo, the battle has been quite one-sided as he has been the main point-scorer for the VCARB this year.

Observing his status on the team, Tsunoda reckoned that he is now a strong contender for the seat at Red Bull.

We'll see. I think, obviously, especially when I'm in Red Bull, you want to always aim for Red Bull. But if they don't want me, or they're not expecting me [to be] into the seat... if I've got an interesting offer that could be better than even RB or Red Bull, yeah, I'll think about it. Yuki Tsunoda said in an interview with RacingNews365

The Japanese elaborated that when someone joins the Red Bull pool of drivers, they aim for a seat on the main team. However, with his career trajectory plateauing as Red Bull does not seem interested in promoting him, he is ready to move to another team and claimed to have received an offer amidst rumors.

Can Honda land Yuki Tsunoda at Aston Martin?

With a move away from Red Bull seeming highly likely, fans and experts have shortlisted a few teams where the highly skilled Japanese could find a place. Interestingly, Honda in the recent past, confirmed its entry as an F1 engine supplier for Aston Martin from 2026 onwards.

The RB driver gave his perspective on where he could move to in the coming years.

I also have a big loyalty to Red Bull as without them I wouldn't be here. And obviously Honda as well. And speaking of Honda, maybe Aston Martin... [as a future option for him]. Yuki Tsunoda said in an interview with RacingNews365

The Japanese driver claimed he’s loyal to Red Bull and Honda who have been alongside him at every step of his racing career. Moreover, with his time with Red Bull coming to a potential close, he could move to Aston Martin to continue his partnership with the Japanese manufacturer.

Despite such claims, there is still no confirmation regarding his future on the grid with any team. The upcoming months could give a slightly clearer picture as to where Tsunoda will ultimately end up for the coming years.
