More than 20 years ago, as a member of the Pitt Panthers, Larry Fitzgerald put together two dream seasons that live on in Big East history. After a 69-1,005-12 freshman campaign, Fitzgerald followed that up with an even better season where he logged 92 receptions for 1,672 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Fitzgerald would go on to be an All-American and win the Walter Camp Award and Biletnikoff Award. He fell just short to Oklahoma quarterback Jason White in the Heisman Trophy voting before being selected by the Arizona Cardinals at No. 3 overall in the 2003 NFL Draft.
All these years later, his son, Devin Fitzgerald, is looking to begin his own collegiate journey. On Tuesday, On3's Steve Wiltfong predicted the 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver would choose to commit to Notre Dame over offers from more than 30 schools.

Fitzgerald finished his junior season at Brophy College Preparatory with 52 catches for 720 yards and nine touchdowns.
Notre Dame already has one of the top classes in the 2026 cycle, ranked fourth by On3. The Fighting Irish have two wideout commitments: four-star Bubba Frazier, the No. 279 player ranked nationally and three-star Dylan Faison. Fitzgerald is ranked as the No. 516 player in the country per On3, 81st among wide receivers and fourth-best in Arizona.
Fitzgerald has made official visits to Notre Dame, North Carolina, Stanford, Clemson and UCLA. He is scheduled to announce his commitment on July 5.
The young Fitzgerald has big shoes to fill as his father followed up his Big East dominance with a Hall of Fame-worthy career in the NFL.
"Larry Legend" was named to 11 Pro Bowls and finished his NFL career with 1,432 receptions (second-most ever), 17,492 receiving yards (second) and 121 receiving touchdowns (sixth). He is eligible to be nominated for the NFL Hall of Fame as part of the upcoming 2026 class.
