Hockey fans have been waiting more than a decade for this moment. Since 2014, fans around the world have dreamed of seeing their favorite NHL stars pull on their national jerseys again at the Winter Olympics. In 2026, that wait finally comes to an end, with the NHL’s best players returning to the Olympic stage.
For the first time since the 2014 Games, NHL players will officially take part in the Winter Olympics. The tournament begins on February 6, with hockey being the centerpiece of the event. The men’s hockey competition will run from February 11 to February 22.

There were early concerns heading into the Games, especially around the ice rink. Questions were raised about the size of the ice surface and the overall quality of playing conditions. However, as the Olympics draw closer, officials have addressed those issues, and teams are now fully focused on performance.
Team Canada and Team USA once again enter the tournament with stacked rosters and sky-high expectations.
Team USA will be led by elite NHL talent, including Quinn Hughes and Auston Matthews. Meanwhile, Canada’s roster includes 34-year-old Sidney Crosby, who returns to the Olympics for the third time. Alongside him is 19-year-old Macklin Celebrini, who is the youngest player ever named to Canada’s men’s Olympic hockey team.
