The Alabama Crimson Tide are really getting their 2027 recruiting going as of late.
They already have two commitments in the boat, and earlier on Monday, Rivals' Chad Simmons reported that they were "emerging" for 2027 four-star linebacker Kaden Henderson.
Simmons then reported later in the day that 2027 four-star EDGE recruit Anthony Sweeney is set to visit multiple blue bloods this fall, including the Crimson Tide. Sweeney will also visit the Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Tennessee Volunteers at various points.
Sweeney may be a four-star recruit on Rivals, but he's rated even higher by 247Sports. He is listed as a five-star recruit and the best recruit in Maryland, per 247sports composite rankings. He is also the fourth-best EDGE recruit in the class and the No. 18 overall recruit in the country.
Securing Sweeney's commitment would be a major win for Alabama since the program is going up against some of the best colleges in the country for him. Sweeney likely isn't in any rush to make his decision and will take his time before deciding on his future.
Before that happens, Alabama will play its first game of the 2025 college football season this Saturday, August 30, against Florida State out of the ACC. It will be on the road for Alabama in a hostile environment, which should be a good test for the team.
Kickoff will be on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
