The 2024-25 NBA season came to a close on Sunday night as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals to win the title.
It was a tightly contested matchup throughout the first half but the Thunder were able to turn things up in the second half as they cruised to a 103-91 victory.
All three of Oklahoma City’s star trio put together incredible performances in the game with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the way en route to being named Finals MVP
Of course, this championship marked the first for the franchise since they relocated to Oklahoma City.
After their victory in Game 7, former Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins went to social media where he sent out a warning to the rest of the NBA about the Thunder.
“The scary part is OKC will only get better,” Cousins posted on X.
The scary part is OKC will only get better!

Cousins makes a great point with this post as the Thunder will only continue to get better due to most of their core having yet to reach their full potential due to how young they are.
Oklahoma City also has an abundance of draft capital over the next handful of seasons, including this offseason.
In the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft, the Thunder own both the 15th and 24th overall picks in the first round while also holding the 44th pick in the second round.
Looking ahead to the 2026 draft, they own three first-round picks, though the Philadelphia 76ers pick is top-four protected while the Utah Jazz’s pick is top-eight protected.
It is clear that the Thunder are going to be a championship threat for years to come, thanks in large part to general manager Sam Presti who has built the franchise into a potential dynasty with their young core and immense amount of draft capital over the next few seasons.
While that may be the case, the rest of the NBA will also continue to get better, especially in the loaded Western Conference, but the Thunder have enough assets to be a title contender for the foreseeable future.
