There's a lot of buzz around BYU Basketball right now. With five-star AJ Dybantsa planning out his future with the Cougars, another top player is on the verge of making it official and joining Dybantsa in Provo.

Former Baylor point guard Robert Wright III made his official visit to BYU on Friday. The former five-star recruit who has been in the transfer portal since Monday was linked to the Cougars. Will BYU be adding the top guard to replace Egor Demim? "Not yet, but it's very likely," one source tells Athlon.

The 6-foot-1 guard previously gave BYU coaches a 'verbal commitment' on Thursday, but hasn't signed off on it yet. The news of Wright potentially coming to BYU has Dybantsa excited for what's coming next year. He retweeted a picture of himself and the former Bear with the caption, "AJ Dybantsa and Robert Wright is going to be an electric duo."

Dybantsa was the top overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and is viewed as a potential top NBA draft pick in 2026. The Utah Prep product is coming off a solid showing at the McDonald's All-American showcase. He also competed in the slam dunk contest with a highlight dunk over WNBA star Angel Reese, scoring a perfect 50.

Reese, who is 6-foot-3, was left stunned by the ease of Dybantsa's athleticism in the process. Adding a bit of comedy was McDonald’s mascots Ronald McDonald and Grimace, who were judging courtside.

Like Demin, both Dybantsa and Wright will likely be chasing NBA dreams after next season. The Big 12’s All-Freshman averaged 11.5 points and 4.2 assists per game at Baylor last season.
