Ryan Williams was named the SEC Freshman of the Week following his head-turning college debut.
Williams’ first two receptions of his collegiate career went for touchdowns as he finished his debut with two touchdowns and 139 yards on two receptions.
The former five-star told media members he went into the game not wanting to let the fact he is 17-years-old stop him from contributing.
“When I was younger, I always played up so it was never a matter of age,” Williams said. “I try not to use age as an excuse because if I would’ve gotten man-handled out there I still wouldn’t want it to be an excuse, so I don’t focus on that, I just focus on playing because at the end of the day it’s football.”
The freshman is expected to continue making plays in year one.
