The storylines are plentiful as golfers from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf get set for the second major of the 2024 season, the PGA Championship. This year marks the fourth time Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, will host a major championship.

Although we all want to predict an outright winner for this event correctly, it wouldn't feel like a huge event and major championship without sprinkling the board with a few prop bets to fill out the card and further enhance the entertainment value. With that being said, let's take a look at a few props to consider.

Alex Noren Top 20 (+350 ESPN BET) & Top 40 (+130 FanDuel)

Noren has been on fire since early March at PGA National Resort. Just about every facet of his game is rolling, though his flat stick has let him down a couple of times as putting has cost him strokes twice in his last four events. Still, he has five top 20s in his last seven tournaments and finished third at the Byron Nelson.

The putting issues are a little uncharacteristic for Noren, as his putter and around-the-green game are usually his strong suits. I'd expect him to putt better moving forward, and I'll bet on him while the ball striking is hot. Surprisingly, Noren ranks fifth overall in my model this week.

Tyrell Hatton Top 20 (+190 ESPN BET) & Top 40 (-110 ESPN BET)

Hatton had a great showing at The Masters with a T9 finish. He's placed within the top 15 in each of his three PGA Tour events this year. Since making the jump over to LIV, he has rattled off a solid stretch with seven top 20s in his last eight events. The one time he didn't finish in the top 20, he finished T21.

Looking at the rotogrinders.com player projections model, Hatton has the fourth-best probability of winning the tournament and finishing in the top 20. The only concern with Hatton is that he can sometimes get a little wayward off the tee. But as long as he's not missing too far into the rough, he has what it takes for a strong showing. I don't think he'll win it all, but the odds are excellent for a top 20 or 40.

Dean Burmester Top 40 (+160 BetRivers) & Top South African (+200 BetRivers)

There are many reasons to like Burmester this week. He's been on fire at LIV Golf tournaments and on the DP World Tour. Since late November 2023, Burmester has won three tournaments, including a victory in Miami in early April. He's finished no worse than T15 in his last five events. Almost every projection and modeling system likes him as a course fit at Valhalla.

Oh, and by the way, he can absolutely nuke it off the tee, which will give him a leg up on most of the field. I believe Burmester will have a strong showing this week.

That's all for this week — best of luck. Let's cash some tickets.
